Parking in Sidney
The Town of Sidney offers plenty of free parking, with the following limitations:
Downtown parking has one, two, three, or twenty-four hour parking limits. In addition, there are a limited number of short-term parking spots for five, ten, and fifteen minutes, as well as loading zone. These are indicated by sign or roadway markings, and are also illustrated on the Town's Downtown Sidney Public Parking Map.
When parking in a spot with a one, two, or three hour parking limit, vehicles must be moved to a new block to park once the time is up. Moving the vehicle forward one or two spots or to the other side of the street is not sufficient and could result in a parking ticket. The Streets & Traffic Bylaw No. 1966 Section 17 "Limited Time Parking Zones" covers this in detail.
A twenty-four hour parking restriction is enforced with the intention of encouraging people not to use our streets as free parking lots while they travel via the ferry or airport. Any parking not otherwise marked has a maximum twenty-four hour limit.
