Parking in Sidney
The Town of Sidney offers plenty of free parking, with the following limitations:
Downtown parking has one, two, three, or twenty-four hour parking limits. In addition there are a limited number of short-term parking of five, ten, fifteen minutes and loading zone parking spots. These are indicated by sign or roadway markings.
While parked in a one, two or three hour parking zone this limitation to park for the signed period is a limit on parking within that entire block. For example: If you are parked in a two hour zone you cannot move your vehicle to another location within that block (either side of the road) prior to the expiration of that two hour period with the intention of starting another two hour parking allowance. You must have left that entire block for a two hour period. The Streets & Traffic Bylaw No. 1966 Section 17 "Limited Time Parking Zones" covers this in detail.
The twenty-four hour bylaw is enforced with the intention of encouraging people to not use our streets as free parking lots while they travel via the ferry or airport. Any parking not otherwise marked has a maximum of a twenty-four hour limit.
