This page is intended as a quick reference of community non-profit agencies and seniors' resources. Local churches may also provide support. They are listed on the Places of Worship page. Please think of these groups when you have time or money to donate -- a little can make a big difference to our community.

We serve Sidney and the CRD. We provide funding to any needy person who, through disability, sickness or financial hardship is unable to maintain safety, well-being and independence. Some examples are short-term homemaker services,respite care, transportation vouchers, gift certificates for food, or vouchers to help care for a pet.

The BC NurseLine provides easy access to help for your health concerns, any time of the day or night. The BC NurseLine is a toll-free health information line, staffed by knowledgeable, specially trained registered nurses. Translation services are available in 130 languages. There is no charge for the call.

All job seekers are welcome -- we have everything you need to look for work. Helpful staff is available, if needed. The Resource Centre is open Monday - Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. It is located at the east side of the Town Hall.

We offer support for children / youth with behavioural problems, parenting help, home care, counselling, alternative education, daycare and mental health therapy. The Resource Centre is open Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is located at the east side of the Town Hall.

An information and referral service for seniors and their families. Workshops pertinent to seniors are also offered. Ask us about the Sidney Single Seniors group.  We are located in the Shoal Centre.

We offer volunteer visits, drivers, handymen, workshops, counseling, acts of kindness, income tax preparation, rental housing info and advocacy. We are located in the Shoal Centre. There are many volunteer opportunities available – Please contact us.

Our thrift store is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. We provide a milk program for young children, vouchers for transportation, groceries, and items from our store and home visits.

Thrifty Foods offers a unique program called Sendial for seniors and others who need fresh food but aren't able to shop for themselves. Local volunteers shop the aisles of Thrifty Foods, and then our own drivers will deliver the order straight to the customer's door. In Sidney telephone Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Our's is a one-on-one, free service provided by trained senior volunteers. We provide emotional support and guidance to seniors troubled by loneliness, isolation, loss, conflict, and life changes. Our non-profit society has been going strong since 1982 all across BC.

The Food Bank "helps people help themselves". We do this in a variety of ways but primarily by providing a food hamper designed to supplement a client's food needs. We are located at the SW corner of Fifth Street and Ocean Avenue. Food distribution hours are Mon., Wed. and Fri. from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

We provide emotional support to anyone, male or female, who is directly or indirectly affected by sexual assault or child sexual abuse, including: immediate crisis response for recent sexual assault or abuse, referrals, groups, counseling, and victim assistance.
