The Town of Sidney also participates with Central Saanich and North Saanich in an organization dedicated to emergency management called the Peninsula Emergency Measures Organization, or PEMO.

This group of volunteers organizes the delivery of Emergency Social Services, Emergency Communication, Disaster Response Team (DRT) /Search and Rescue (SAR) and the Neighbourhood Emergency Preparedness Program (NEPP) in the region.

By forming a cooperative organization, the region is able to increase the overall capacity for dealing with emergencies the participating municipalities. This means more training opportunities, more social interaction and more experience helping out in your region.
