The Prevention Division of the Sidney Fire Department is committed to fire safety by conducting routine fire inspections of existing buildings, consulting with the building inspection department during new construction, and providing public safety education to schools, seniors, businesses, and clubs.

The Fire Prevention Division also conducts fire investigations to determine the cause and origin of fires. Statistics from fire investigations from around the province are compiled by the Office of the Fire Commissioner and through these statistics, trends and new hazards are identified.
