Can you locate my property corners for me?

Where are the public parking lots located in Sidney and how long may I park for?

The street light outside my place is not functioning, can you please repair it?

     Q. Can you show me where to locate my service connections?
A.

Depending on the age of the property and records compiled, the Engineering Department at the Town Hall may be able to provide you with an approximate location. However, as much of the information originates from sources other than the Town of Sidney, the Town accepts no responsibility for the accuracy of any information provided.

Q. Can you locate my property corners for me?
A.

If our records indicate that a Land Surveyor’s iron “post” was previously set at the property corner(s) fronting municipal property, the Engineering Department will attempt to locate those posts only. However, the Town does not guarantee the accuracy of any post located and property owners are advised to contact a licensed British Columbia Land Surveyor (BCLS) to establish a definitive location.

Q. Where are the public parking lots located in Sidney and how long may I park for?
There are four public parking lots in Sidney. They are located as follows:
a. Located at the southeast corner of Second St. & Bevan Ave.
    (Restiction: no overnight parking).
b. Located on Third St., mid-block between Beacon Ave. & Sidney Ave.
    (3 hr. max limit or permit available for all-day parking).
c. Located at the southeast corner of Fourth St. & Sidney Ave.
    (3 hr. max limit or permit available for all-day parking).
d. Located at the intersection of Bevan Ave. & Seventh St.
    (3 hr. max limit or permit available for all-day parking).

Q. The street light outside my property is not functioning will you please repair it?
A.

All street light issues should be reported to the Town's Engineering Department at 250-656-4502.  Please advise if the pole is metal or wooden.  The Engineering Department will contact BC Hydro directly if a wooden pole is involved.

Q. My regular garbage pick-up was missed today, would you send somebody to collect it?
A.

The Town’s residential garbage collection service is contracted to Evergreen Industries (Alpine Disposal). Please contact them directly at 250-478-5145, regarding individual pick-up enquiries for household or garden waste collection.

Q. I want to install sprinklers in my garden.  What water restrictions does the Town have?
A.

The Town adheres to and enforces the regulations on water conservation set by the Capital Regional District’s Water Conservation Bylaw (Bylaw #3061). Residents are advised to refer to Schedule “A” of that bylaw and/or contact the CRD Water Dept. at 250-474-9600, or the Town at 250-656-4502 for details of water restrictions currently in effect.

Q. Does the Town permit the backyard burning of garden waste, or other waste material?
A.

No.  For environmental, health and safety reasons the Town has banned the backyard burning of all waste material.  The use of charcoal, gas or electric barbecues for food preparation is not restricted.

Q. I would like a copy of some of the official maps the Town has produced. Can I purchase them?
A.

Yes. Copies of the Towns official maps (zoning, street plan etc.) are available for purchase on request. The price for a 600mm x 900mm color print is $7.50 and the cost of a 1200mm x 1800mm color print is $15.00.
