Iroquois Park Revitalization Project

Iroquois Park, approximately 2.8 hectares (7 acres) in area, supports soccer and tennis activities and is developed with walking paths, a pond, and open greenspace.  Despite being located directly across from Tulista Park and between two residential neighbourhoods, the park is underused due to a lack of amenities.

Revitalization of Iroquois Park would encourage more residents to participate in active recreation.  The improvement of existing features and the addition of new recreational opportunities, such as a water spray park and multi-sport court, as well as supporting amenities including washrooms, change rooms, and a concession, will provide for a variety of activities to suit a wider range of residents and visitors.  A relocated hard-surfaced vehicle parking area accessed from Ocean Avenue would improve access to the park for vehicles and visibility into the park from Fifth Street.

Sidney’s new Vision 2020 Strategic Plan identifies “Quality Public Spaces” and “Balanced Healthy Communities” as two of five priorities for the Town.  Improvements in public parks work towards both of these priorities as they encourage people to use the parks and enjoy an active lifestyle.
