Local Government Elections are held every three years on the third Saturday in November.  The next election will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011.    For more information regarding municipal elections, please contact the Town's Administration Department.

Resident Electors:

Non-Resident Property Electors:

age 18 or older;

age 18 or older;

Canadian citizen;
resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration;
resident of the Town of Sidney for at least 30 days immediately before the day of registration; and
not disqualified  by  any  enactment

Canadian citizen;  
resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration;
registered owner of real property in the Town of Sidney for at least 30 days immediately before the day of registration;

not eligible to register as a resident elector in the Town of Sidney;
only register in relation to one piece of property;
not disqualified by any enactment from voting in and election or otherwise disqualified by law; and

if there is more than one registered owner of the property, only one of those individuals may, with the written consent of the majority of the owners, register as a non-resident property elector. A signed Non-Resident Property Elector Consent Form (available at the Town Hall) is required.

Registration on Voting Day
If you qualify as either a resident elector or a non-resident property elector you may register on voting day. Two pieces of identification, at least one with a signature, is required to prove both residency and identity of the elector:

  v BC Identification Card issued by the Motor Vehicle Branch
  v BC CareCard
  v Owner's Certification of Insurance and Vehicle Licence issued by ICBC
  v Social Insurance Card
  v Canadian Citizenship Card
  v real property tax notice
  v credit card or debit card
  v utility bill
