I am pleased to report that your new Council has hit the ground running. One week after the inaugural meeting Council participated in an informative and thorough orientation meeting conducted by the Town’s management team. An additional briefing session on municipal finance and the operating and capital budgeting process was held the first week in January. In my inaugural address I indicated that Council would be moving forward with an exercise to establish a set of key goals and objectives, for both the short and long term. I am pleased to report that this process is now underway, and we anticipate that by the end of February we will have a draft roadmap to guide our decision-making on a range of important matters, from managing the Town’s finances to carrying on with the spirit of the Vision initiative led by Mayor Don Amos several years ago. I must emphasize that this organizational planning exercise is all about your community. Therefore your input will help Council in setting priorities and establishing meaningful goals and objectives. When we have reached the draft plan stage we will be rolling out a public consultation program to share our findings and seek your views.
