Newly released draft vision and goals for Sidney reflect culmination of community input

After 10 months of community engagement, a common vision and set of goals have begun to emerge for the Official Community Plan (OCP) update. During Phase II of the OCP update process, the Town of Sidney heard a range of ideas, dreams, and concerns about the future of Sidney and compiled this feedback into a Key Directions Report, now available for public review.

Town of Sidney Partners with CleanBC Rebate Program
January 28, 2021
Sidney Council resolved to commit up to $50,000 as a municipal partner in the CleanBC Better Homes rebate program and instructed staff to move forward with becoming a program partner. The funds will be used in 2021 to top-up rebates provided through the program for home renovations for Sidney residents.

Sidney Council Waives Town's 2021 Business Licence Fees

Effective Friday, July 3, 2020, in-person property tax payments at Sidney Town Hall will be by appointment only. Please contact us at 250-656-1184 or propertytax@sidney.ca if you would like to make an appointment, or consider one of the other property tax payment options listed on this page.
Access to Sidney Town Hall is restricted to comply with physical distancing requirements established by the Provincial Health Officer. Municipal business is being conducted by phone, email, online through our website, and by appointment.

Summer 2020 Events in Sidney

It is with considerable regret that the Town of Sidney’s Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) advised Sidney event organizers today to cancel or postpone events, both indoor and outdoor, that involve public gatherings scheduled for the summer of 2020. Consequently, the Town of Sidney has made the difficult decision to cancel the 21st season of the Sidney Street Market.

Sidney Approves 2020 Financial Plan
February 20, 2020
Sidney Council has approved a Financial Plan for 2020 that results in a modest municipal tax impact of 1.79% for existing properties. The net impact of the tax increase on the average residential property is about $27 for the year, or $2.26 a month.

Province Announces Changes to Property Tax Deferment Process
February 20, 2020
The British Columbia Government has announced changes to the property tax deferment process. Starting in May 2020, eligible British Columbians can apply online to defer their property taxes. Additionally, property owners can choose to auto-renew their deferment application.
