On Monday, September 19th at 10:30 am at the Beacon Park Bandshell, the Town of Sidney will hold a Service of Remembrance to honour Queen Elizabeth II. The ceremony will coincide with the date of Queen Elizabeth’s State Funeral in London.
“Few of us can remember a time when the Queen was not a steady presence in our lives and the lives of millions around the world, exemplary in what it means to live a life devoted to service,” said Mayor Cliff McNeil-Smith. “I know from speaking with community members that her death has been deeply felt. This ceremony is an opportunity for us to grieve Her Majesty’s passing together and recognize the Queen’s 70 years of service.”
The ceremony will include a Colour Parade, Town Crier proclamation, moment of silence, and musical elements.
All members of the public are welcome to attend. Those interested in laying flowers or a wreath can do so at the Cenotaph outside of Sidney Town Hall at 2440 Sidney Ave.
