Council requests report to examine Sidney’s resilience to major flood events

While Sidney’s municipal services were able to continue through mid-November’s flood event, the experience prompted Council to request a staff report examining whether there are further steps the Town can take to ensure municipal infrastructure is able to handle future extreme rainfall events. The report will look at whether the Town’s pump stations and storm drainage systems were over capacity during the recent flood, and consider whether there are related infrastructure projects that should be prioritized in 2022. The report will be completed and presented to Council early in the New Year before the 2022 budget process begins.
