Bylaw Enforcement

The Bylaw Enforcement Officer investigates all written complaints forwarded to the Town of Sidney.  If a particular complaint does not fall within the purview of the Bylaw Enforcement Officer, it will be forwarded to the applicable department. Complainants will be contacted by email or telephone to confirm their request has been received and the complainant will be kept informed as the investigation proceeds. The Bylaw Enforcement Officer can be reached at 250-656-4502.

Matters of an urgent nature outside of normal business office hours of Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. should be referred to the RCMP for investigation. Please contact the RCMP by calling their non-emergency line at 250-656-3931.

To report construction noise that violates the Town’s Noise Bylaw No. 1689 outside of normal office hours please contact the RCMP. A follow-up call or email from the complainant to the Bylaw Enforcement office during normal business hours would assist in staff tracking these offences and ensure the complainant is kept informed.

The Town's Streets and Traffic Bylaw No. 1966 provides general street regulations in regards to the use of our streets, sidewalks, and boulevards.

The Town of Sidney contracts the enforcement of the Town’s Animal Control Bylaw No. 1965 to CRD Bylaw Enforcement. Their Bylaw Enforcement Officers will investigate animal-related complaints. In addition to investigations they provide periodic mobile patrols of the Sidney area to augment compliance to our animal-related bylaws. To initiate a complaint regarding animals, including dogs, please call CRD Animal Control at 250-478-0624 or contact their after-hours answering service at 1-833-931-3585.
