Sidney Access Awareness Day

Access Awareness Day is celebrated annually in Sidney with a free event for all ages that raises awareness about disability, accessibility, and inclusion in our community. Attendees can receive information about services offered in the community through table displays, speakers, and presentations.

Access Awareness Day is celebrated in conjunction with National AccessAbility Week. It was inspired by the Rick Hansen "Man in Motion Tour" to promote changes in facilities and infrastructure and to remove barriers to those with mobility issues.

Jeannette Hughes Accessibility Award

Each year, the Jeannette Hughes Accessibility Award is given to an individual, business or organization whose work has improved the lives of people living with a disability. The Town of Sidney was honoured to receive the Jeannette Hughes Accessibility Award in 2018.
