Sidney’s first ever Tree Appreciation Day was held on Saturday, November 14, 2020! Here's how we celebrated. Stay tuned for details about Tree Appreciation Day 2021.

Tree Sapling Giveaway

9:30 am - 12:30 pm

  • Volunteers from the community will assist the Town with handing out 60 Garry oak and 180 coastal Douglas-fir tree saplings to Sidney residents (1 sapling per person, while supplies last).
  • Look for the tent outside Rathdown Park on Calvin Avenue, near the intersection of Calvin Ave & Bowerbank Road, to pick up a sapling!
  • Mask wearing is encouraged and appreciated.

  • The Greater Victoria Green Team, in partnership with the Town of Sidney, is organizing a tree planting event in Rathdown Park.
  • Approximately 20 trees are to be planted, including a mix of native coastal Douglas-fir, western redcedar and western hemlock, as well as ‘Eddie's White Wonder’ dogwood and Pacific Sunset Maple.
  • The Greater Victoria Green Team will provide all the necessary tools as well as packaged refreshments.
  • Registration through the Greater Victoria Green Team’s website is required to participate in the event. More information on the tree-planting event and a link to register can be found on the Greater Victoria Green Team’s website. Space is limited due to COVID-19 restrictions.
