What You Can Do

The Town of Sidney is committed to climate action and environmental sustainability, but you can help make difference as we work towards becoming a more resilient and lower carbon community together.

Opportunities to take action on climate change or get involved in environmental initiatives will be shared here.

Tree Appreciation Day

On October 16, 2021, the Town of Sidney will be partnering with the Greater Victoria Green Team (GVGT) to plant over 40 trees at Melville Park. Prior to this event, Sidney residents can register to receive a free tree, with pick up taking place at Town Hall the week leading up to Tree Appreciation Day. Visit the Town's Tree Appreciation Day page to find out more.

Ways to get involved:

  • Register with the GVGT to participate in the tree planting
  • Sign up to get a free tree to plant on your property

Host a Stewardship Event

Do you have an idea to protect, rehabilitate, clean, or enhance the natural environment here in Sidney? Maybe you want to lead an invasive species pull, beach clean-up, or plant some trees? First, make sure to give our Stewardship Event Guide a read so you know how to get started.

Whether you already have a full plan developed for your initiative or are still in the brainstorming phase, we want to hear from you! The Town of Sidney has some resources could help to support your initiative.

We would also love it if you would be willing to send us some pictures of your successful event so we can share your hard work with the community.
