Councillor Cam McLennan
Cam McLennan was born at Saanich Peninsula Hospital, and has lived in the area his whole life; with the exception of a six month move to Lake Cowichan. Soon after moving he realized that Sidney was home and he returned.
At the age of 22, Cam bought a Jim’s Mowing franchise which grew to be the largest Jim’s franchise in B.C, with seven employees and over two hundred customers. He received the franchise of the year award in 2007 and sold the business in 2010; it still operates in Sidney today.
Currently, Cam is the owner of Island Pro Mowing and Landscaping. His work focuses on property maintenance and landscaping, managing accounts and employees.
Cam and his wife Sarah met in high school and have been married 10 years. They have three sons ages 7, 2, and 5 months. On sunny days they like to take the boys to the foot of Beacon, where seven year old Noah likes to play on the beach while two year old Liam likes to run in Beacon Park and hear his echo in the band shell or look at the crabs in the outdoor sea life pool at the Shaw Ocean Discovery Center.
Cam has a huge passion for classic cars and has been an active member in the Torque Masters Car Club Since 2009. In 2010, he led the charge to bring back the annual Auto Extravaganza car show fundraiser, and has been the lead organizer of the event since that time. The August car show draws over three hundred classic and special interest cars and thousands of spectators to the streets of Sidney.
In 2014 Cam volunteered his time to give back to the men and women that risk so much to keep us safe. He sat on the Sidney Fire Department Centennial Committee and played an influential role in organizing the parade and truck display that followed.
