Councillor Tim Chad
Tim Chad has served as a Sidney Councillor over the course of four decades. He served his first term as an elected official from 1988 to 1990. Tim served another four terms from 1997 to 2008. He was re-elected in 2012 and is currently serving another consecutive term with the Council of 2015 to 2018.
In 1973, Tim moved to Sidney with his wife Gloria and their sons, Timothy and Thomas, who are graduates of Sidney Elementary, North Saanich Middle School and Parkland High School.
After retiring from the Royal Canadian Navy as a Chief Petty Officer First Class in 1983, Tim worked on Sidney’s waterfront until taking a position with the Canadian Hydrographic Service at the Institute of Ocean Sciences.
Tim has volunteered extensively in the community; he has been a Sidney Volunteer Firefighter, a member of the Sidney Fire Wardens Committee, a member of the Sidney Little League executive, a charter member of the Peninsula Minor Hockey executive and a member of the Sanscha Board.
Tim’s past council liaison appointments have included the Advisory Planning Commission, Peninsula Recreation Commission including six years as the Commission Chair, Sanscha Board, Memorial Park Society Foundation, Family Court and Youth Justice Committee, Capital Region Emergency Services Telecommunications (CREST) and Emergency Measures Executive.
