Council approves Memorandum of Understanding for BC Transit hub in Sidney
In June 2024, Council provided approval in principle for the development of a transit hub in Sidney with a future Rapid Bus stop located on Seventh Street near the Mary Winspear Centre. After learning more about the potential design on April 29th, Council approved a Memorandum of Understanding to support BC Transit in proceeding to the detailed design phase for the project.

BC Transit will be leading engagement on the project and will provide opportunities for community members and stakeholders to share input on transit hub designs as they progress.

The Rapid Bus would provide faster and more frequent bus service along the Peninsula from the BC Ferries Terminal in Swartz Bay to downtown Victoria, and bus stops along the way.

Improved public transportation has been identified as a priority in the Town’s Official Community Plan, Active Transportation Plan, and Climate Action Plan. If the project moves forward, the transit hub would likely be built within the next three-to-four years.
