Low tides and warm temperatures are causing an unpleasant odor that can be mistaken for sewage. This is the result of seaweed and algae breaking down and releasing gasses. It is an annual occurrence and smells can linger for 2-3 weeks. Water quality is tested regularly throughout the summer.

Annual Report Available for Review

The Town of Sidney’s draft 2025 Annual Report is now available on the Annual Report page.

The Annual Report will be considered at the Regular Council Meeting on June 22, 2026 at 6:00 pm in the Council Chambers at Town Hall (2440 Sidney Avenue).

Members of the public are invited to review the report and provide feedback to Council via email to admin@sidney.ca.
