Low tides and warm temperatures are causing an unpleasant odor that can be mistaken for sewage. This is the result of seaweed and algae breaking down and releasing gasses. It is an annual occurrence and smells can linger for 2-3 weeks. Water quality is tested regularly throughout the summer.

The Town intends to renew its agreement with Beacon Community Services (BCS) for the purpose of operating the Seniors’ Centre and commercial kitchen located in the SHOAL Centre at 10030 Resthaven Drive.

The Town will provide assistance to BCS by providing the facility rent free, and paying BCS to operate the facility. BCS will deliver recreational programs and food services in the SHOAL Centre. The renewal is for five year-term (2024-2028), with an option for two 5-year renewals.
