Low tides and warm temperatures are causing an unpleasant odor that can be mistaken for sewage. This is the result of seaweed and algae breaking down and releasing gasses. It is an annual occurrence and smells can linger for 2-3 weeks. Water quality is tested regularly throughout the summer.   

Previous Mayors of Sidney

Sidney was incorporated as a Village municipality on September 30, 1952 and elected members of Council were referred to as Chairman and Commissioners.

On January 1, 1967 Sidney was re-incorporated as a Town with elected members of Council referred to as Mayor and Councillors.
