Town of Sidney appoints new Chief Administrative Officer

Sidney, BC

Sidney, BC – The Town of Sidney has appointed a new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Liam Edwards, to lead the community’s municipal operations. Edwards is an experienced CAO, having led Bowen Island Municipality in this role for the past four years. Edwards also brings 14 years of experience working with local governments on behalf of the Province’s Ministry of Municipal Affairs, where he served as Executive Director of Infrastructure and Finance in the Local Government Division, and Deputy Inspector of Municipalities.

Edwards will begin his role with the Town of Sidney on September 3rd after relocating to the area with his family. His hiring follows the upcoming departure of current CAO Randy Humble, who will be retiring on June 28th following 24 years of service with the municipality.

“On behalf of Council, I am very pleased that Mr. Edwards has accepted the position of Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Sidney. His enthusiasm and diverse professional experience will be invaluable as the Town continues to see economic and population growth,” said Mayor Cliff McNeil-Smith. “I am sure the transition will be a positive one as Mr. Humble leaves behind a strong and experienced team of dedicated staff members.”

“I am honoured to be selected as the Town of Sidney’s next Chief Administrative Officer. The Town has been well served by the current CAO, Randy Humble, whose well deserved retirement will leave behind some very big shoes to fill,” said incoming CAO Liam Edwards. “I am excited for this opportunity to work with the Mayor and Council on their priorities, to assist staff in continuing their high level of service delivery and to build a trusting relationship with municipal partners and the community as a whole.”
