Town of Sidney benefits from Canada Community-Building Fund

Sidney, BC

Sidney Mayor and Council wish to acknowledge the ongoing community benefits derived through the receipt and use of Canada Community-Building Fund transfers.

The Canada Community-Building Fund is now in its 21st year of delivering funding to local government infrastructure and capacity-building projects in British Columbia. Since the inception of the program, the Town of Sidney has received over $9.5 million in funding, and used more than $8.2 million on eligible projects to benefit the community.

The most significant Canada Community-Building Fund projects undertaken in Sidney this past year enhanced the Town’s recreation and tourism infrastructure, local roads, and active transportation network. Major projects in 2024 included $541,000 toward a rehabilitation of Bevan Pier, an iconic tourism and recreation attraction, and $915,000 toward road and active transportation improvements in West Sidney, a key growth and employment area. The latter category included $213,000 to complete the Beacon West Roundabout, and $702,000 to complete the final phase of the West Side Bike Path.
