Lease for public parking lot (Lot F) renewed for five more years
Council has approved a five-year renewal of the lease for Lot F, the public parking lot at the north-east corner of Third Street and Bevan Avenue, which is leased from School District 63. Lot F is a well-used pay parking lot that provides long-term parking to support recreational and tourism demand. The lot features 34 spaces, including 3 accessible spaces. The new lease includes a rent increase from $2,000 to $2,350 per month, reflecting cumulative inflation since the last renewal in 2020, which will be incorporated into the next Financial Plan.

Town of Sidney honoured for excellence in workplace safety
Council recognized that the Town of Sidney was honoured with a significant award at the 2025 BC Municipal Safety Association annual conference this October. The Town received the Organization Safety Excellence Award, which recognizes local governments for initiatives that reduce workplace injuries, illnesses, diseases, and fatalities.
In addition, Rob Cooke, Health and Safety Coordinator, received an Honourable Mention for the Occupational Health and Safety Leadership Award. Since 2015, Cooke has led the Town’s workplace safety program with dedication and a long-standing commitment to fostering a safe and healthy work environment.
