Since 2020, the Town of Sidney has celebrated Tree Appreciation Day by partnering with community members to plant trees in one of its public parks.

Take part in Sidney’s sixth annual Tree Appreciation Day. Come help us plant some trees at Philip Brethour Park, or pick up a free tree to plant on your own private property as part of the tree giveaway.

No experience needed; all ages and abilities are welcome. Instructions, gloves, tools, and snacks are provided.
Tree Giveaway
The following types of trees will be given away at Philip Brethour Park during the Tree Appreciation Day event, to plant at home. First come, first serve.
- Pacific Crabapple
- Garry Oak
- Red Alder
- Big-Leaf Maple
Past Tree Appreciation Events
Past Tree Appreciation events have taken place at Rathdown Park, Peter Grant Park, and Melville Park.
