Council gives green light to two-week public review of updated Draft Active Transportation Plan

Council considered an updated Draft Active Transportation Plan that reflects extensive community feedback on the original Draft Active Transportation Plan and subsequent direction given by Council during a May 8th Council meeting.

Council made an addition to the plan, proposing that the wood chip trail that runs between Lochside Trail and Bowerbank Road at Calvin Avenue be turned into a paved multi-use pathway to serve as a connector trail for more types of active transportation. Once that addition and some minor edits are incorporated, Council have asked staff to proceed with a two-week public review period of the updated Draft Active Transportation Plan. This review period will likely begin late in June.

Council also directed staff to move forward with the detailed design of a priority cycling network improvement outlined in the Draft Active Transportation Plan: a bicycle boulevard for Bowerbank Road.
